Rated as one of the top tennis resorts in the country by Tennis Magazine, Kiawah boasts two state-of-the-art tennis centers and a wide array of teaching programs. Located at East Beach and West Beach, the facilities feature composition courts, hard courts and lighted courts for nighttime play. Kiawah Island's 10-mile beach slopes gently into the surf, making it an ideal spot for swimming, boogyboarding, and sunbathing. The hard-packed sand is perfect for jogging or biking, and connects to 30 miles of paved bike trails that crisscross the island. The 21-acre Night Heron Park features basketball courts, volleyball courts, soccer fields, a nature center and a fitness trail complete with cardio and strength training stations.

Beach AccessKiawah and the neighboring islands are extremely kid friendly, offering a wide array of recreation programs for the whole family. The Kamp Kiawah program at Kiawah Island Golf Resort* features a diverse menu of activities for children ages three to eleven. "Theme days" include arts and crafts, face painting, scavenger hunts and field games. The resort also offers programs geared towards teens, such as photo scavenger hunts, volleyball and basketball. The Jack Nicklaus-designed Turtle Point is ranked as one of the top-10 courses in the state and has hosted several important championships, including the Carolinas Amateur and the 1990 PGA Cup Matches. The Pete Dye-designed Ocean Course hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup, the 1997 World Cup, the 2003 World Cup Championship and will host the PGA Championship in 2012. Even non-golfers might recognize the Ocean Course from its big screen debut in The Legend of Bagger Vance. With panoramic ocean views on most holes, it is known as one of the country's most beautiful and demanding rounds of golf.
